NOTE: Warning! This was written on little sleep. Lots of errors. Please forgive me.
Have been a little busy lately. Zander was born Oct 20th 2010 @ 3:28am. He now shares a birthday with my youngest daughter Tatum. So not only did he take Tatum's baby spot. But now she has to share her birthday with him. Good thing she is pretty easy going. Well right now anyways. We went into the hospital Tuesday at 2am because I was having extreme back labor and was vomiting red stuff. I don't think that it was blood but I had not eaten anything that was red. So we called the doctor and they said to go in. Needless to say they sent me home at 5:30am that same day. They said that the contractions were close enough they just needed to be stronger. Are you freaking kidding me. I never really did have front contractions just the damn back labor, and if I did get front labor my back pain was over taking the front pain. The back pain was so strong my birthing ball, a heating pad, a warm bath, or my husband rubbing my back didn't help. I was in tears the back pain hurt so bad and I really didn't have front contractions as often as they would have liked. But we went back into the hospital at 10:30 and I went from 80% effaced to 100% and dilated a little more... not much more but more. I hadn't slept in over 24 hours and had not eaten anything since 2am on the 19th. The Dr decided to keep me because I couldn't take the pain and could not sleep.
17 hours later Zander made his appearance. He weighed 8.9 lbs and was 21 inches long. Not too bad for being 38 weeks. He was so perfect. But I was so tired from pushing for 2 hours I was really kind of out of it. When it was time to push the epidural was not really working anymore, not fun. But we made it through. We were really trying to have Zander make his entrance on the 19th instead of the 20th but what could I do. It took me 3 hours to dilate from a 9.75 to a 10. SERIOUSLY!!! It took me only a stinking hour or so to go from 6 to a 9.75. My oh my. All I really remember after I delivered him is them taking Zander, cleaning him off, and trying to get him to cry. His cry sounded like a squeaky toy. I was in more pain after I delivered him then I was with the contractions. They gave me something in the epidural catheter and on top of that Demerol. I guess they gave me too much because they had to give me oxygen because I was d stating.
Once I got to my new room I fell asleep for about 3 hours (according to my husband). My time perception was off. They had to take Zander to the nursery because his sugars fell and they could not get them back up. The nursery tried to get them raised but then they had to transfer him to special nursery to get a iv to get his sugars up.
It worked like it was suppose to and he was out of the special nursery @ 1:30am the next day. We were discharged on Friday but to our dismay Zander had to end up staying an extra day after I was discharged because he had jaundice. I was really really upset. Thinking hell he was in the nursery long enough and you guys couldn't of figured that out when he was in there? My heavens. But he made it home Saturday and he has been well since. He is still a little jaundiced but the Dr is not worried about it. He eats like a champ... so now maybe these pounds will fall off since he is eating so much.
When I came home from the hospital one of the first things I did was weigh myself. Thinking I should have dropped something after pushing out a 8 pound baby and then some. But my legs and feet were really really swollen as you can see in the picture above. I got on and I didn't lose a stinking pound. However I can say I have dropped 20lbs a week later and yes I know, I still have some more weight to lose. I gained about 60lbs with this pregnancy. I am going to wait until my 6 weeks to make sure I can get on the elliptical again and of coarse weight watchers will be in my near future. Taking the opportunity to eat what I want for the first week or two since I have been so limited on food the last 2 months or so.
The kids have done well with Z and they really enjoy him. Livi is super protective of him. Even Carson is gentle. SURPRISE SURPRISE! Tatum likes him but not much once daddy is holding him since she is daddy's little girl. Javi is always a helper but
I think he is still adjusting. Breastfeeding has been fine. I was worried about that since they had to give him the bottle in the nursery. But I started pumping and told them to stop giving him formula and just use my milk and we have never had a problem since we have had him at home. Thank goodness.
Zander is a good baby. He sleeps a lot, just not when I want him too. ha ha ha..... But all my babies were good sleepers. Zander and I haven't left the house since we got home from the hospital, so it will be a big change when we go to a trunk or treat this Saturday night and then trick or treating and a bonfire on Sunday night. Still don't want to be around a lot of people right now.... so we will see how it goes. DH is still off work. He might go back to work on the 7th or he might wait until the 14th. It has been such a blessing having him off this long. I don't know when this will happen again. So I am taking advantage of spending time with him. He really is a good husband I couldn't ask for a better one. Seriously. Well with a busy day ahead I better get to sleep. Hope you enjoy my pictures :)

Glad you have such a wonderful husband to help you through your recovery. I still find it hard to believe that when I first met you, you had just gotten Javi and now you are a mother of 5!!!
